Kahari Smith was born October 2, 1983 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. At a young age he won numerous design competitions. In 2007 Kahari Graduated from Oakwood University BS in Physical Therapy, Minor in Business Management. Barilee Yorgure was born May 18, 1984, in Jakarta, Indonesia to Nigerian parents. He attended Southlands English school in Italy before finishing Advanced level certificated in Arts, Technical Drafting and Physics with a Cambridge Syllabus 2002. In college he studied Mechanical Engineering at Alabama A&M University. To pay tuition Barry started a small clothing store whilst Kahari co-owned and ran a successful race car performance company. Kahari and Barilee met in 2003 due to their interest and enthusiasm for fast, exotic cars and a suprisingly shared passion for humanitarian issues. Smith & Yorgure Inc was established in June 2008, the line features men’s and women’s wear. Its main aim is to promote African Heritage and culture, of which most of their inspiration is derived from.

Contemporary clothing company utilizing vivid colors, innovative fabric pairing and recognizable but subtle cultural influences make for a truly artistic functional and ultimately coveted array of garments. From cashmere with leather cardigans to beaded silk blouses with Moroccan styled hoods. Silhouettes are created close to the body paying an ode to the human form and its distinctive dimensions. Great mix of fabrics is also what adds flare to their to their finished garments, each paying respects to the particular culture it was drawn from. Due to hard work and determination and representation from good friend J Breck Robinson certain celebrities have taken interest in the line and the significance behind each design. Jordan Walker Pearlman, Hill Harper, Gabriel Union are amongst them. Smith&Yorgure Inc is contemporary line that aims to use brilliant designs to support humanitarian causes in Africa such as rehabilitation of Child Soldiers, AIDS awareness and eradication of the conflict diamond trade. Their goal is simple; to create functional, colorful, coveted clothing that provokes social consciousness.
